Kilnwick Sprayers was established in 1983 by Wayne Litherland. Having been involved with crop sprayers since 1977, when Wayne first joined Dorman Sprayers of Ely after leaving university. Following 3 months in the factory working in every department, Wayne became area sales manager for the south west of England. In 1980 he moved to Yorkshire to take up the role of machinery manager at AIS (Yorkshire)Ltd. based in Selby. The take over by Brown Butlin in 1983 prompted Wayne to ‘go it alone’ and he established Kilnwick Sprayers Ltd in the same year.
The company was set up to provide a service to local farmers, selling, servicing and repairing crop sprayers. Over the years Kilnwick Sprayers has expanded the area covered and the services offered. Based near Pocklington in East Yorkshire the company has a large site, with extensive storage and workshop facilities, offices and stores. In addition to grass paddocks for the testing and calibration of ever more sophisticated spraying equipment.
In addition to agricultural crop sprayers, which are and will always be the heart of the business, Kilnwick also supply the local authorities, golf clubs, bowls clubs, cricket/football and rugby clubs, schools, industry, horticulture and even the prison services. the percentage of sales to the groundcare amenity sector, horticulture and specialist applications has increased dramatically over the last few years (see specialist application heading).
